Tasa 790 012: what is it and which procedures is it paid for?

It is the fee form (modelo 790, code 012) managed by the Policía Nacional. Its website form covers the TIE, EU resident registration certificates, NIE assignment, the invitation letter, stay extensions and other immigration documents. The exact amount appears when you pick the procedure in the form.

What is the difference between tasa 012 and tasa 790 052?

The 012 goes with the Police (NIE, TIE, EU registration certificate, invitation letter). The 052 goes with the residence authorisations processed by the Government Delegations and Sub-delegations, that is, the Oficina de Extranjería. The province selection page of the 052 form warns that for the TIE you pay the 012, not the 052.

How much is tasa 790 012 for the NIE and the TIE?

According to Orden PJC/617/2025: NIE 9.84 €, first-issue TIE 16.08 €, TIE renewal 19.30 € and long-term residence TIE 21.87 €. The Order provides for yearly updates through the State Budget laws, so check the figure in the form before you pay.

Where and how do I pay tasa 790 012?

You fill in the form on the Police website, download it as a PDF, print it and pay at a collaborating bank. We did not see online payment for the 012 on the Police page. The 052 does allow online payment with a digital certificate, DNIe or Cl@ve, or a printed form paid at the bank.

What if I made a mistake paying the fee or paid too much?

If you paid too little, the 012 form has a «Complementaria» option. For the 052 and 062, the Public Administrations website offers a request to refund fees paid unduly, addressed to the Government Delegation or Sub-delegation. We found no equivalent official procedure for the 012.

Tasa 790 012 and 052: which fee to pay and how to pay it

In short: tasa 790 012 (also called «tasa 012» or «modelo 790 012») is the fee form used to pay for processing the NIE, the TIE, the EU resident registration certificate, the invitation letter and other documents handled by the Policía Nacional. Tasa 790 052 covers the residence authorisations processed by the Oficina de Extranjería. Each is generated on its own website and the amount is set by a State Order (table below, checked on 17.10.2026).

In person or by representative? Mixed. The 012 is filled in online, printed and paid at a bank. The 052 can be paid online with a digital certificate, DNIe or Cl@ve, or at a bank with the printed form. The official pages do not say whether someone else may pay for you. For online payment on the Public Administrations website, the NIF on the certificate must match the holder of the paying account.

Which fee goes with which procedure

Tasa 790 012 (Policía Nacional). The Police website form groups these procedures: stay extensions; some residence authorisations (initial for exceptional circumstances on humanitarian grounds, cooperation with the authorities, national security or public interest; initial for women victims of gender or sexual violence and related cases; renewal of temporary residence for exceptional circumstances); TIE and registration certificates for EU residents; documents for undocumented people and others (cédula de inscripción, identity document for refugees, stateless persons or subsidiary protection, travel documents, return authorisation, exceptional entry or stay authorisation, NIE assignment, certificates or reports); invitation letter (authorisation, issuance and certified copies); and transit and border-stay visas. Arraigo does not appear in the 012 form.
Tasa 790 052 (Government Delegations and Sub-delegations). The website titles it «Tramitación de autorizaciones de residencia y otra documentación a ciudadanos extranjeros» (processing residence authorisations and other documents for foreigners). Our cards on arraigo social and the other arraigo routes use it for the residence authorisation.
Tasa 790 062. This is the fee for work authorisations. For employment by an employer, the employer pays (art. 46 of Organic Law 4/2000), except for part-time or discontinuous domestic work, where the worker pays; any agreement making the worker bear this fee is void (art. 46.2). The website FAQ describes it as the one companies hiring foreigners pay. Art. 47 exempts from the fee for work authorisations Ibero-American, Filipino, Andorran and Equatorial Guinean nationals, Sephardic Jews, children and grandchildren of Spaniards by origin, and foreigners born in Spain, and its text ends with «cuando pretendan realizar una actividad lucrativa, laboral o profesional, por cuenta propia» (when they intend to carry out a lucrative, employment or professional activity on their own account); confirm in the information sheet whether it applies to your case.
Official notice: the province selection page of the 052 form says that for the TIE (fingerprinting) you pay the tasa 012, not the 052.
Doubtful cases: of the exceptional circumstances, the 012 form includes the initial authorisation on humanitarian grounds, cooperation, national security or public interest, the initial one for victims of gender or sexual violence and related cases, and the extension or renewal of temporary residence for exceptional circumstances (16.40 €, item 2.4). Arraigo does not appear in the 012 form and our arraigo cards use the 052. What is really doubtful is the extension: the 012 form has the renewal for exceptional circumstances, so to extend after an arraigo check the information sheet of your procedure. We could not open those sheets on 17.10.2026 because automatic access was blocked.

Requirements

Tasa 012: none beyond picking the right procedure. The form is public and asks for no certificate.
Tasa 052 online: DNIe, another accepted digital certificate or Cl@ve access, and a bank account. To print the form, a PDF reader is enough. How to get Cl@ve and the certificate.
The fee is owed by the person in whose favour the authorisation is granted or the document issued (art. 46 of Organic Law 4/2000); the 052 form shows the applicant.

Documents

The NIE or identity number of the payer (the 012 form asks for «N.I.F./N.I.E.»). If you do not have one yet, see how to apply for the NIE.
First name and surname, full home address and town.
The exact procedure you will request (and, for the 052, the province where you will file).

Where: how to generate tasa 790 012 and 790 052

Tasa 012, on the Police website. Open the tasa 790 code 012 page and click «Rellenar formulario y descargar» (the form). It asks for N.I.F./N.I.E., name, address, the type of self-assessment («Principal»), the procedure, town, date, payment method and a security code. Hovering over each procedure button shows its amount. Finish with «Descargar impreso rellenado», which gives a PDF to print. The page does not describe online payment of the 012.
Tasa 052, on the Public Administrations website. Open the tasa 052 page. There are two routes. Online: electronic payment and registration (you log in with a certificate or Cl@ve, choose the province, click «Realizar Pago» in the Tax Agency gateway and «Firmar y Enviar» the registration; then download the receipt). With a printed form: tasa 052 form (choose the province, click «Obtener Documento» and print it). The page stresses that the procedure is complete only if you do all the steps.
Payment status and receipt: in Expedientes de tasas (with a certificate) you see whether the payment is registered and download the receipt.
Tasa 062: tasa 062 page, same way of working as the 052.

Cost

Amounts from Orden PJC/617/2025 (BOE 16.06.2025, item number in brackets), with the fee they belong to according to each website. The Police also publish their own fee table, which matches the Order except for one amount (see «Updates»):

With the 012: NIE assignment at the person's request, 9.84 € (5.12). First-issue TIE, 16.08 € (4.2). TIE renewal, 19.30 € (4.3). Long-term residence TIE, 21.87 € (4.5). TIE for family members of Spaniards and EU resident registration certificate, 12 € (4.1 and 4.6). Invitation letter authorisation, 75.05 € (5.14); issuance, 6.54 € (5.15); certified copy of each document, 1.05 € (5.16).
With the 052: initial temporary residence authorisation, 10.94 € (items 2.1.x). Temporary residence renewal, 16.40 € (2.2.x). Residence through arraigo, 38.28 € (2.3.1). Long-term residence, 21.87 € (2.6).
Tasa 062: the work amounts are in section 3 of the same Order.
How to read it: each figure is what you pay for the procedure, not for the form.
Updates: article 1.2 of the Order says the amounts are increased at the start of each year according to the State Budget laws. The BOE analysis shows no later amendment as of 17.10.2026. There is no State Budget law for 2026: the Ministry of Finance publishes the extension of the Budget for 2026 (art. 134.4 of the Constitution), so no 2026 increase is recorded through that route. The website shows the amount of the procedure when you pick it: if it differs from this list, ask at your office before paying (for example, for the certified copy of the invitation letter the Order sets 1.05 € and the Police fee table shows 1.09 €).
The amount comes from the item you choose: in the online 052 the application calculates it and you do not type it (website FAQ).

Deadlines

Ten days to pay, from filing the application or, in some work cases, from registration with Social Security (additional provision 12 of Royal Decree 1155/2024). The text does not say whether they are working or calendar days: confirm with your office.
If you already have a NIE and file electronically, the same provision says the fee is paid at the moment of filing, once the Administration has the system in place. See how it works in Mercurio.
The Administration checks ex officio that the fee has been paid once the application is admitted (same provision). For the TIE, the paid tasa 012 is taken to the fingerprint appointment together with the EX-17.

What to do if you make a mistake

You paid too little or want to top up a payment: the 012 form has the «Complementaria» option: you enter the receipt number printed above the barcode of the main form and the amount, and attach proof of payment.
You picked the wrong procedure or paid too much (052 and 062): the Public Administrations website has a refund of fees paid unduly. It is addressed to the Government Delegation or Sub-delegation handling the file, with an electronic form or a paper model, and you bring the original payment documents. The page gives no deadline.
Tasa 012: we found no official page for a refund or for correcting a 012 form already paid (search of 17.10.2026). Ask at the office where you file the application.
Technical errors when paying online: according to the website FAQ, you need a valid digital certificate installed in the browser; with the DNIe, put it in the reader before logging in.
If you paid the 052 for a TIE, the website says the 012 is the one that applies to the TIE. We did not find what happens to the procedure after that mistake.

Steps

Check which fee goes with your procedure: NIE, TIE, EU certificate or invitation letter, the 012; residence authorisation at the Oficina de Extranjería, the 052.
Tasa 012: open the Police website, click «Rellenar formulario y descargar» and pick the exact procedure (the amount shows when you hover).
Fill in identification, address, «Principal» and payment method, type the security code and download the PDF form.
Tasa 052: open its page, choose the province and pay online with a certificate or Cl@ve, or download the printed form.
Pay the printed form at a collaborating bank (print all the pages) or finish the online payment and registration.
Keep the receipt and bring or attach it with your application. For authorisations, the time limit to pay is ten days.
