About us and how we check facts
Who we are
Extranjeros (guiaextranjeros.es) is a free information navigator for foreigners in Spain, in English, Spanish and Ukrainian. We explain procedures and rule changes in plain language: immigration status, temporary protection, healthcare, work, benefits and paperwork. Every page links to its official source.
We are not a law firm or a public authority, and we have no connection with the Spanish administration. Our content is general information, not legal advice. For your own case, check the source and ask a professional.
Where the facts come from
Official sources only:
- the BOE (Spain's Official State Gazette) and the Official Journal of the EU;
- Council of Ministers briefings (La Moncloa);
- the Ministry of Inclusion and the Secretary of State for Migration: instructions, processing criteria and draft rules open to public consultation;
- the Ministry of the Interior, the Tax Agency (AEAT), the DGT, Social Security and regional governments;
- the national grants database (BDNS);
- the press office of the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ): we only take court rulings from its official releases;
- the European Commission and the Council of the EU;
- embassies and consulates of the countries with the largest communities in Spain.
How we check
- Every statement comes from the primary source. The link is on every page.
- A separate check before publishing: facts are compared with the primary source, and the translations with each other, so all three languages show the same amounts, dates and conditions.
- Rules still in force. Every day we check the consolidated BOE for changes to, or repeal of, the rules we cite. If they change, we update the page.
- Review date. Each page shows when it was last checked against the official source.
- News. Anything not yet in force (draft laws, decisions awaiting publication) is labelled "Not in force yet". Each news item is reviewed again when the matter moves forward.
- Personal data. We don't publish personal data or use court-ruling databases.

How we are funded
The site is free. We earn from paid PDF guides, personal consultations (information and orientation, not legal advice) and affiliate links. Affiliate links are marked as such: they cost you nothing and don't affect the content. Terms are on the legal notice page.
General information, not individual legal advice. Check the official source and consult a professional for your case.
