In short: The authorization for minors at the Honduras consulate in Madrid is a document for handling procedures of a person under 21. It costs USD 50 (US dollars, paid at the Consulate) and is valid 6 months, only for the procedure you name. One or both parents, guardians or legal representatives request it, with a free appointment and in person.
In person or by representative? In person and personal, with your physical, valid Honduran DNI; the source does not allow someone else to do it for you.
What it is for
The Consulate lists these common uses:
- Issuing or renewing the minor's passport, in Honduras or at Honduran consulates abroad (see Honduran passport in Madrid).
- International travel of the minor.
- Marriage of a person aged 18 to 21.
- Visas at embassies or consulates accredited in Honduras.
- Spanish residence or nationality and other procedures at the Spanish Embassy in Honduras.
- Any other administrative procedure of the minor at public or private institutions.
What it is not. It is issued for the procedure you name and cannot be reused for another. It gives no representation or custody of the minor: that needs a General or Special Power (see powers at the Consulate).
Documents
- Appointment for an Authorization (free, see how to book).
- Physical, valid Honduran DNI. If one parent is a foreigner, their valid passport.
- Copy of the Honduran DNI of the authorized person; if foreign, a copy of their passport.
- Copy of the birth certificate of each minor; a copy of their passport also works.
- If the procedures will take place in Honduras, the authorized person must hold a valid Honduran DNI.
If you do not have the DNI in physical form (the DNI is shown in physical form and is personal):
- If you had one and lost it or left it in Honduras: you request a replacement at the Consulate on the day of the appointment. It costs USD 25, paid at the Consulate.
- If you never applied: you enroll on the same day with your valid Honduran passport. It is free the first time.
Payment: USD 50 on the day of the appointment, by credit or debit card at the Consulate, or in cash by deposit at an ATM. The euro exchange amount is given that day.
If you will use it in Honduras, it must first be authenticated by the Secretariat of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (SRECI). How: guide on authentication of consular documents.
Steps
- Book the free Authorization appointment on the Consulate's official site.
- Gather the documents.
- Attend in person on the day and time of the appointment and say which procedure you need the authorization for.
- Pay at the Consulate.
- If you will use it in Honduras, then request the SRECI authentication.
