In short: Birth registration at the Honduras consulate in Madrid is free and covers children aged 0 to 21 who have a Honduran father or mother. With it the consulate issues the Honduran birth certificate, which you need to get the child's passport.
In person or by representative? You must go to the consulate with an appointment, but the child does not. One of the parents or the grandparents can go. The appointment is booked in the name of one parent, because the child has no ID number yet. If you want the passport on the same day, both parents must go with the child.
What it is. The consulate records the birth of a child with a Honduran father or mother and issues the Honduran birth certificate. That certificate is what the minors' passport asks for next.
Documents
- Free appointment in the name of one parent, booked on the official site (see how to book).
- Original ID of the parents: Honduran DNI. If a parent is a foreigner, they can show their passport, their country's identity card or their NIE.

- Birth registration application (PDF from the consulate), completed.
Watch the apostille. A multilingual certificate without the Hague apostille is not valid. If the country of birth did not sign the Hague Convention, write first to [email protected].
If the Honduran father or mother has no DNI. They show their valid Honduran passport and do the DNI enrolment the same day, either for the first time or as a replacement. Bring the enrolment requirements and book a separate enrolment appointment, in addition to the registration appointment.

- Book the free appointment on the official site, in the name of one parent.
- Get the Spanish full birth certificate and have it apostilled.
