In short: Honduras consulate in Madrid closed in November: the Consular Section will not serve people on 2 and 9 November 2026, for Community of Madrid holidays. The notice already appears on several pages of its website.
What changes for you today
Nothing: the consulate works as usual until those dates. If you have an appointment or want to book one, how to do it is in the guide appointment at the Honduras Consulate in Madrid. If you need the authentication (auténtica) of a consulate document, see the guide authentication of Honduran consular documents. For a passport, including one for under 21s, the requirements are in the guide Honduran passport in Madrid.
What happened
The consulate put an "important notice" at the top of its website: the Consular Section will stay closed on 2 and 9 November for Community of Madrid holidays. We read it on the pages for the authentication of consular documents and for minors' passports, both modified on 22 October 2026. The notice does not say when it was posted. There was an earlier closure, on 21 October, covered in the news Honduras consulate in Madrid closed on 21 October. What is new now are these two November dates.
How it works now
Consulate procedures need an appointment, which is free and only booked on the official site. A passport is in person and personal, minors included, who go with their mother and father. The authentication of a consulate document, on the other hand, is requested from the SRECI (Honduras' Foreign Ministry), online or in person in Honduras, according to the consulate's page.
What changes
- On 2 November there is no service at the Consular Section.
- On 9 November there is none either.
- The notice does not say what happens to appointments already booked for those days, or whether new slots open: we cannot say.
- The authentication page says you request it from the SRECI, not at the consulate, but the closure notice does not say whether those days affect other steps: we do not know.
What happens next
These are two one-day closures. After those dates, the notice announces no further changes.
What you can do
- If you have an appointment on 2 or 9 November, write to [email protected] or check your appointment on the consulate's official site before going.
- If you do not have an appointment yet, pick a day other than those two.
- If your procedure has a deadline, start early: almost everything needs an appointment and the passport is done in person.
