Grants for young entrepreneurs in the Sierra de Segura: the Diputación de Jaén (the provincial administration) offers €120,000 to young people who have started a business in that area. It covers up to 50% of the project, with a maximum of €12,000 per business, and applications run until 31 December 2026.

What changes for you today

If you are under 35, registered as a resident (empadronado) in the Sierra de Segura and became an autónomo (self-employed) on or after 1 April 2026, this aid is relevant. If your business or your residence registration is outside that area, nothing changes for you. General Andalusian aid is in the guide Aid for autónomos in Andalusia, and the reduced first-year contribution is in Flat rate for autónomos 2026.

What happened

The provincial council of Jaén published the call, listed in the National Grants Database under number 937990. It is part of the Integrated Territorial Development Strategy of the Sierra de Segura. It is awarded by competition: applications are compared with each other, so meeting the requirements is not enough. The database records the summary as published in the BOP (the provincial official gazette) on 28 October 2026.

How it works now

To work for yourself you need to register as an autónomo, with a permit that allows it. The procedure is explained in How to become an autónomo in Spain as a foreigner (the Valencian guide, useful for the steps). This grant adds to what already exists and does not replace it.

What changes

  • Amount: €120,000 in total. Each business gets up to 50% of the project, capped at €12,000.
  • What for: investment in new, durable items for the activity (tangible fixed assets). According to the summary, utilities, advertising, software and websites are not paid. The investment must be kept for at least 36 months.
  • Who can apply (individual): autónomo registration from 1 April 2026 and before applying, no autónomo activity in the three months before registering, under 35 on the application date, residence registration in a municipality of the area and the activity based there.
  • Who can apply (company): registered in the Commercial Registry from 1 April 2026, with registered office, tax address and activity in the area, and 75% of the capital held by people who meet the requirements above (or at least 51% of the capital if those people are at least half of the partners). Joint-property communities (comunidades de bienes), civil-law partnerships without legal personality (sociedades civiles) and people registered as collaborating family members are excluded.
  • Foreigners: the summary does not mention nationality. It requires autónomo registration, age and residence registration; confirm this in the rules.
  • Deadline: from the day after the summary is published in the BOP until 31 December 2026.

What happens next

Costs count from 1 April 2026 until six months after the BOP publishes the final decision. Payment is a single payment after the investment is justified. According to the summary, the supporting documents are due within three months after the end of the execution period; the payment date is not given. Decision dates are not given in the database.

What you can do

  • Read the summary and call text in the National Grants Database: the documents and scoring criteria are in the rules (articles 10 and 15 of the call, according to the summary).
  • Check your autónomo registration date: it has to be from 1 April 2026. If you have not registered yet, the order matters; read the rules first.
  • Applications go through the electronic office of the Diputación de Jaén (https://sede.dipujaen.es/AyudaSubvenciones).
  • See open calls in other areas on calls for entrepreneurs.
