In short: Royal Decree 933/2026 was published in the BOE (the official gazette) on 30 October 2026 and came into force that same day. It gives €150,000 to the Spanish Paralympic Committee for inclusive sport in the reception facilities of the Secretary of State for Migration, with special attention to people with disabilities. It is not aid for individuals: there is nothing to apply for.
What changes for you today
Nothing if you do not live in a reception centre. If you live in one of the international protection system or the humanitarian care programme, adapted sport activities may take place at the centres the Ministry of Inclusion designates; ask at your centre. On the reception system, see the guide CEAR and the international protection reception system.
What happened
The Council of Ministers approved the decree on 27 October, the King signed it on 28 October and the BOE published it on 30 October (BOE no. 270). It is the second grant of this kind in two weeks, after the one for the Olympic Committee: Royal Decree 831/2026: €709,500 for the Olympic Committee. We covered the approval in the earlier news item: Grant to the Spanish Paralympic Committee: not in force yet. What is new is that the official text exists and is in force.
How it works now
A direct grant is one given by decree to a named organisation, without a public call. Here the organisation is the Spanish Paralympic Committee, a non-profit association. According to the decree, it is done this way because only the Committee coordinates Spanish Paralympic sport with the federations and with the International Paralympic Committee.
What changes
With the decree in force, the Committee receives €150,000 in three blocks: €100,000 for inclusive sport practice, €25,000 for awareness and integration and €25,000 for outreach. The decree's annex lists what will be done:
- A needs map: finding people with disabilities in the reception network and where they are.
- Introductory sport workshops in 5 centres of the reception network and classes for residents in 5 centres designated by the Ministry.
- Sessions with Paralympic athletes and basic sports equipment for 6 centres with facilities.
- A practical guide and information materials, 6 Paralympic athletes as ambassadors and online training for centre staff.
- Outreach on the Committee's social media.
It also aims to spot possible athletes with Paralympic potential.
What happens next
- The Committee has 15 days from entry into force to submit a sports report, a budget and a sworn statement on the Ministry's electronic office.
- The Secretary of State for Migration decides within 6 months of 30 October at most, that is, by the end of April 2027.
- Payment is made in one go and in advance. Activities can last at most one year from the decision, and the Committee justifies its spending up to 3 months afterwards.
The specific centres and when activities start depend on that decision.
What you can do
- If you live in a reception centre, ask at the centre whether Paralympic Committee activities will be organised.
- There is no application or deadline for individuals.
- To read the decree, it is in the BOE.
