In short: The grant to the Spanish Paralympic Committee is a direct grant that the Council of Ministers approved on 27 October 2026. It lets the Committee run inclusive sport in the reception facilities of the Secretary of State for Migration. The royal decree is not yet in the BOE (the official gazette), so it is not in force.
What changes for you today
Nothing. The money goes to an organisation, not to people, and there is nothing to apply for. If you are looking for the international protection reception system and its services, see the guide CEAR and the international protection reception system.
What happened
On 27 October 2026 the Council of Ministers approved a royal decree (a Government rule with the rank of regulation) that gives a direct grant to the Spanish Paralympic Committee. Direct means without a public call: the decree names the beneficiary. The official summary says this is done for reasons of public and social interest, and because the Committee exclusively carries out the coordination and representation of Spanish sport at Paralympic and international level. The text is not yet published in the BOE.
How it works now
This is the second grant of this kind in two weeks. The first, for the Spanish Olympic Committee, is already in force: Royal Decree 831/2026 was published in the BOE on 15 October, with €709,500, as the news item Royal Decree 831/2026: €709,500 for the Olympic Committee explains. This new one pays special attention to people with disabilities. Neither is aid for individuals.
What would change
Once the decree enters into force, according to the Council of Ministers summary, the Paralympic Committee will receive €150,000 in total and work along three lines:
- Inclusive sport practice: introductory sport workshops for people with disabilities, practical sessions with Paralympic athletes, classes for residents and adapted sports equipment, with its maintenance.
- Awareness, visibility and integration: practical and informative materials and training for the staff of the reception network.
- Outreach for the project.
The summary adds two more aims: to identify and guide possible athletes with Paralympic potential, and to strengthen the skills of reception-centre staff. The specific centres and how residents are chosen are not in the summary.
What happens next
The next step is publication in the BOE. No date has been announced. According to the summary, the activities can last at most one year from the decision granting the subsidy.
What you can do
- If you live in a reception centre, ask at the centre whether Paralympic Committee sport activities are planned: the people there will know.
- There is no application or deadline for individuals.
- To follow the royal decree, check the BOE when it is published; we will update this news item.
