In short: this card gathers the grants for autónomos in the Valencian Community that do not depend on this week's calls. There are three layers. What applies across Spain: the flat rate, the unemployment lump sum and the microloan, which is a loan. What the Generalitat Valenciana and its employment service LABORA give, with aid that appears in some years and not in others. And support services: Chambers of Commerce, CEEI and PAE points. The calls open today, with their deadline, are in the table below.

What applies across Spain

  • Flat rate (tarifa plana): in 2026, €80 a month plus the MEI (0.9%), €88.64 in total, for 12 months, and another 12 if your income is below the minimum wage, according to the Social Security Import@ss guide. You request it in the registration itself and the guide mentions no nationality requirement. Details in the card on the flat rate.
  • Unemployment lump sum (pago único, capitalización): if you receive contributory unemployment benefit, the SEPE can pay you what is left in one go to invest in your activity. You request it before starting the activity, it is refused if an autónomo registration already exists and at least 3 monthly payments must remain. How it works, in the card on unemployment benefit as an autónomo.
  • MicroBank microloan: a loan, not a grant: up to €30,000, no collateral, repaid over up to 6 years, for autónomos and microenterprises, with a business plan and a viability report from a partner organisation, according to the product page. More in the card on the MicroBank microloan.
  • ICO financing: the ICO Empresas y Emprendedores line is also repayable financing (loan, leasing, renting or credit line), not a grant, and is requested directly at credit institutions.

What the Generalitat Valenciana gives

  • «Cuota cero»: on 28 September 2026 the Generalitat announced two years without contributions for new autónomos and four for young ones, according to its press release. The release presents a measure announced in the General Policy Debate and names no rule, date or requirements. Check the DOGV and the LABORA website for a call before counting on it.
  • EMPYME: aid from the Directorate-General for Entrepreneurship and Internationalisation for autónomos and small businesses whose activity started within the last 5 years and with a registered address in the Valencian Community. It refunds up to 70% of running costs already paid, at most €15,000, according to the official procedure. It appeared in 2024, 2025 and 2026; the 2026 call ran from 1 to 31 July and is now closed. If a new one comes out, it will be in the official procedure. It does not cover the autónomo contribution. Card: EMPYME.
  • LABORA aid for self-employed women: the programme to keep women's self-employment going pays a pregnant or adopting autónoma who hires an unemployed person before her leave. It appears in the LABORA employment-aid archives for 2024 and 2026, not in every year. The 2026 call closed on 20 October 2026. Card: grant for pregnant autónomas.
  • LABORA start-up aid (EAUTOE): it was in the 2024 archive and is not listed in those of 2025 and 2026. If it returns, the conditions will be in its call. Just in case, the card on becoming an autónomo as a foreigner explains why it helps to register with LABORA before starting.
  • Urgent aid after disasters: LABORA has published extraordinary aid for autónomos affected by the DANA floods and by forest fires. If your activity is in an affected area, see the LABORA aid page.

Support that is not money

  • Chambers of Commerce: those of Valencia (business creation courses, the España Emprende plan, a programme for women, business nurseries in Paterna and Requena), Alicante (advice, training and programmes, with free tools and resources according to its website) and Castellón (advice and processing of the autónomo registration, free according to its website). Ask the Valencia one about the cost of each service, as its website does not give it. If your business is already running and invoices at least €100,000 a year, also see the Valencia Chamber's Pyme Digital programme; in 2026 it required IAE registration before 2024, so it is not for people just starting.
  • CEEI network: IVACE works with the CEEI centres of Castellón, Elche and Valencia, focused on innovative entrepreneurship.
  • PAE points: the Entrepreneur Support Points give advice on creating your business, and the CIRCE system lets you process the RETA registration, also on your own with a digital certificate or Cl@ve. There is a PAE finder.
  • Your town hall: ask in the employment, commerce or local development area whether it has its own advice or aid. Those published as calls appear in the table below.

If you are a foreigner

  • Who can work for themselves. Residents may carry out an activity on their own account or as employees (Organic Law 4/2000, art. 10). Foreigners need prior authorisation to work (art. 36), and the residence and self-employment authorisation requires meeting what is asked of Spaniards to open that activity and showing sufficient investment (art. 37).
  • Initial self-employment authorisation: it lasts 1 year and is limited to one autonomous community and one sector (Royal Decree 1155/2024, arts. 83 and 84). See the card on residence and work as self-employed.
  • If you already work as an employee: that authorisation also allows self-employment while the employee job is the main activity (art. 73.5). If that job ends for reasons beyond your control, you must tell the immigration office within 3 days.
  • Exceptional circumstances (arraigo and others): they include permission to work as self-employed or as an employee, except the socioformativo arraigo, which only allows employee work up to 30 hours a week (art. 131).
  • Temporary protection: the Ministry of Inclusion's Ucrania Urgente website says it allows work as self-employed or as an employee.
  • For registration: if you are not from the EU, the Social Security guide asks for a NIE, a Social Security number and the work and residence permit. The steps are in the card on becoming an autónomo as a foreigner; taxes are in the card on taxes for a foreign autónomo.
  • About the aid: the Social Security guide on the flat rate and the EMPYME and LABORA calls for self-employed women set no nationality requirement. They ask for being registered in the activity and up to date with payments to the tax agency and Social Security; EMPYME also asks for a registered address in the Valencian Community. The MicroBank page states no nationality or residence requirement: confirm it with the partner organisation.

What about this week's calls? The table below lists the open calls for autónomos and small businesses from the state, the Generalitat, provincial councils and town halls, taken from the National Grants Database. It is updated every day and whatever closes disappears. The table does not say whether a call admits foreigners: the conditions and the exact deadline are only in the official call.

Frequently asked questions

What grants for autónomos in the Valencian Community are there in 2026?

Across Spain: the flat rate (€88.64 a month in the first year), the unemployment lump sum and the MicroBank microloan, which is a loan. The Generalitat and LABORA have aid that appears in some years and not in others, such as EMPYME. Always check the current call: conditions and deadline are only there.

Can the Generalitat «cuota cero» for autónomos be requested yet?

The Generalitat announced it on 28 September 2026: 2 years without contributions for new autónomos and 4 for young ones. The press release names no rule, date or requirements. Check the DOGV and the LABORA website for a call before counting on it.

Can a foreigner apply for autónomo grants in the Valencian Community?

Anyone outside the EU needs a permit that lets them work for themselves to register as an autónomo. The Social Security guide on the flat rate and the EMPYME and LABORA calls for self-employed women set no nationality requirement, but they ask for being registered in the activity and up to date with payments. Each call sets its own conditions.

Where can I see the calls open now for autónomos in the Valencian Community?

In the table on this page, which lists the open calls from the state, the Generalitat, provincial councils and town halls from the National Grants Database and is updated every day. The exact deadline and requirements are only in each official call.
