In short: the Fundación Pluralismo y Convivencia (a public foundation of Spain's Ministry of the Presidency, Justice and Relations with the Cortes) has opened its 2026 call: €130,000 in grants for associations, foundations and minority religious communities to run coexistence activities and prevent discrimination on religious grounds. Up to €10,000 per project, covering at most 75% of its cost. Deadline: 9 October 2026.
Is this money for you personally? No. Grants go to entities, not individuals. If you belong to a faith community or an association from your home country, it is your entity that can apply; you benefit from the free activities it organises.
Who can apply (per the BOE extract and Orden PJC/834/2025): associations (Organic Law 1/2002), foundations (Law 50/2002) and other private non-profit entities, "in particular, religious entities belonging to minority confessions". Requirements: registered office in Spain, legally constituted and entered in the relevant register (for religious communities, the Registry of Religious Entities). Companies, public bodies and political parties cannot apply. One application per entity.
What is funded — three lines:
- Memory and heritage of religious minorities: archives, exhibitions, routes, audiovisual materials.
- Dialogue between beliefs and convictions: meetings, visit programmes to places of worship "to learn about and understand different religious practices and traditions", exhibitions and artistic activities.
- Prevention of religious intolerance and discrimination: workshops, campaigns, materials.
Worship activities as such are excluded.
Amount: total budget €130,000. Maximum €10,000 per project, which cannot exceed 75% of total cost — the entity contributes at least the remaining 25%. Under the regulatory bases, indirect costs are capped at 8% of the grant and 25% of the budget is reserved for minority-confession religious entities entered in the Registry of Religious Entities.
Deadline and how to apply: one month from the day after publication of the extract in the BOE (9 September 2026) → until 9 October 2026. Electronic application via the Ministry's e-office: mpr.sede.gob.es, signed by the entity's legal representative. Documents: project memo, budget, bank details and sworn declarations.
⚠️ Before applying: projects are scored out of 50 (quality 24, feasibility 16, social impact 10) and need at least 30 to be fundable. A funded entity must account for the spending and co-finance at least 25%; a purely worship or private-interest activity does not qualify.
Regulatory basis: Orden PJC/834/2025 of 29 July. Official extract: BOE-B-2026-29248 · BDNS 928103.
What this means for foreigners in Spain: many of the country's minority religious communities — Ukrainian Orthodox and Greek-Catholic parishes, Muslim communities, Latin American evangelical churches, among others — are made up of people who came from abroad. This call lets them fund open activities (open days, visits, exhibitions, anti-discrimination workshops) that you can attend for free. To find your confession's community near you: Directory of places of worship, Observatorio del Pluralismo Religioso. Questions about the call: Fundación Pluralismo y Convivencia, tel. 91 185 89 44, [email protected].
If you face discrimination: for racial or ethnic origin there is the Victim Assistance Service of the Council for the Elimination of Racial or Ethnic Discrimination — free phone 021, WhatsApp 628 860 507, [email protected]. That service covers racial or ethnic origin; for a hate crime on religious grounds, the route is a police report at a Policía Nacional or Guardia Civil station (check current channels at interior.gob.es).
