In short: your Temporary Protection TIE (Ukraine conflict) stays valid until 4 March 2027 with no need to renew it.
Order INT/96/2026, of 12 February (published in the BOE on 17 February 2026) automatically extends the validity of all foreigner identity cards (TIE) already issued to beneficiaries of Temporary Protection from the Ukraine conflict.
Until when: validity is extended until 4 March 2027, in line with EU Council Implementing Decision (EU) 2025/1460 of 15 July 2025.
What to do: no new TIE application is required (literal text: "A new foreigner identity card will not be necessary"). Existing TIEs remain valid without any administrative steps.
This order continues the mechanism established by the previous Order INT/195/2025, which had extended TIEs until 4 March 2026.
Careful — two different dates: the card is extended until 4 March 2027 by this order; temporary protection itself is extended until 4 March 2028 by Council Implementing Decision (EU) 2026/1912 of 30 July 2026, which "shall apply from 5 March 2027". So your status runs beyond the date covered by this card order. The Decision adds a military-obligations requirement for new applications, which does not apply to anyone already enjoying temporary protection on 4 August 2026 or earlier. That date was set by the corrigendum DOUE-L-2026-81267 of 5 August 2026.
