In short: The grant to the Spanish Olympic Committee for migration centres is a direct grant of 709,500 EUR that the Council of Ministers approved on 13 October 2026. It pays for sport activities in the public network of migration centres. The royal decree is not yet in the BOE (the official gazette), so it is not in force.
What changes for you today
Nothing. The money goes to an organisation, not to people, and there is nothing to apply for. If you are looking for the international protection reception system and its services, see the guide CEAR and the international protection reception system.
What happened
On 13 October 2026 the Council of Ministers approved, in the Inclusion, Social Security and Migration section, a royal decree (a Government rule with the rank of regulation) that gives a direct grant to the Spanish Olympic Committee. Direct means without a public call: the decree names the beneficiary. The official summary says this is done because the Committee exclusively carries out institutional functions representing Spanish sport at Olympic and international level. The text is not yet published in the BOE.
How it works now
This grant is new and does not replace any aid for individuals. We have not found a sport aid for residents of migration centres in our guides, and the official summary does not mention an earlier one.
What would change
Once the decree enters into force, according to the Council of Ministers summary:
- Total amount: 709,500 EUR. Of this, 409,500 EUR is for practical sport and education activities and 300,000 EUR for awareness and outreach campaigns.
- Activities: visits by six Olympic medallists to schools and centres, physical activity programmes in five reception centres, resident visits to high-performance facilities, and campaigns against discrimination and hate speech.
- Aim: use sport for integration, coexistence and cohesion among residents, and help spot possible sporting talent.
The summary does not give the full text of the decree. We do not know which specific centres take part or how participating residents are chosen.
What happens next
The next step is publication in the BOE. No date has been announced. According to the summary, the implementation period runs from the decree's entry into force until 31 October 2027, and the activities can be justified until 31 January 2028.
What you can do
- If you live in a migration centre, ask at the centre whether Spanish Olympic Committee sport activities are planned: the people there will know.
- There is no application or deadline for individuals.
- To follow the royal decree, check the BOE when it is published; we will update this news item.
