Grants for autónomos in Paterna: the Paterna city council pays the Cheque Emprendedor/a 2026, €1,000 to €2,200 in a single payment, to people starting an activity in the city. Autónomos and micro-businesses registered between 1 December 2025 and 30 November 2026 can apply. Applications are online only from 15 October to 30 November 2026, first come first served.

What changes for you today

You can apply if your tax registration date falls between 1 December 2025 and 30 November 2026 and the activity is in Paterna. What counts is the premises where you work or, if you work without premises, your tax address. If your activity is not in Paterna, nothing changes for you. How to register, step by step, is in the card How to become an autónomo in Spain as a foreigner.

What happened

The city's full council approved the rules on 30 July 2026, and they were published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Valencia (Boletín Oficial de la Provincia, BOP) no. 152 of 11 August. In the same gazette, the summary of the call came out on 13 October (no. 196). The fund is €80,000 and can grow to €160,000 if there is budget. You can find the call in the National Grants Database (BDNS) under number 932446.

How it works now

Paterna has given this grant in previous years: in 2025 the window was also from 15 October to 30 November. The registration rules do not change. The flat rate is still €88.64 a month in 2026, and according to the rules the grant can be combined with other aid.

What changes

  • Amount by profile: €1,000 base and €1,100 if the person was unemployed before registering. Under 35: €1,200 (€1,320 if unemployed). Women: €1,300 (€1,430 if unemployed); women under 35: €1,400 (€1,650 if unemployed). Over 45: €1,400 (€1,650 if unemployed).
  • Higher amounts: long-term unemployment, €1,750. This means being registered as a job seeker with LABORA for at least 360 of the 540 days before registering as an autónomo. A disability of 33% or more, gender violence or proven social exclusion: €2,200. If you fit several groups, the highest amount applies.
  • Who cannot apply: family-collaborator autónomos, worker cooperatives, sociedades limitadas laborales, non-profits and anyone who received the grant in the previous 2 years. Nor anyone with debts to the tax agency, Social Security, the Generalitat (regional government) or the Paterna city council. A registration that only adds a complementary activity in the same premises does not count either. Micro-businesses must have fewer than 10 staff.
  • No points: complete applications are paid by date and time of registration until the fund runs out.
  • Commitment: keep the activity and the RETA registration (the Social Security scheme for the self-employed) for at least 12 months. If the beneficiary deregisters within 6 months of registering, they repay the full amount; from month 7 to 12, they repay the part for the missing months.
  • Foreigners: the rules set no nationality requirement and accept the NIE as an identity document. To register you need a permit to work for yourself; temporary protection gives it, as the registration card explains. With temporary protection, compare the 12 months with your TIE validity: until 4 March 2027, although the EU extended the protection until 4 March 2028.

What happens next

  1. The window closes on 30 November 2026, and grants are awarded until the fund runs out.
  2. The council has up to 3 months from each application's entry to decide. With no answer in that time, the application is considered refused.
  3. After the decision there are 10 days for objections; then payment arrives by bank transfer.
  4. After 12 months of activity, you have 1 month to justify it with the monthly RETA receipts and the census status certificate (certificado de situación censal) from the tax agency.

What you can do

  • Check the registration date on your form 036: it must be between 1 December 2025 and 30 November 2026.
  • The «unemployed» amounts are checked against your registration as a job seeker with LABORA on the date of your RETA registration. If you have not registered yet and are not working, register as a job seeker first; registering afterwards does not raise the amount.
  • Prepare your work history report (informe de vida laboral) showing the RETA registration, form 036 or the CIRCE single electronic document and the RETA registration decision. Add the third-party form (ficha de terceros) confirmed by the bank (or a bank certificate) and your DNI or NIE.
  • Apply early: the order of registration decides who is paid if the fund is not enough for all applications.
  • Apply at the electronic office of the Paterna city council, procedure «Cheque emprendedor/a 2026», with electronic identification, for example a digital certificate.
